WHO IS SSM

Special machines are the core business of Schöller Special Machines (SSM). The German company, which was founded in 2014, builds tunnel excavators on the one hand and tunnel loading machines on the other. As a Volvo SAS partner (Special Application Solutions), we also modify Volvo construction machines according to customer requirements.

SSM's know-how goes back to the CMT division (Construction & Mining Technology) of the German company Terex-Schaeff, which built the first tunnel excavators back in 1980. The owner of SSM, Wilfried Schoeller, and his team have decades of experience in the field of special machines for heavy-duty use. So we are the legitimate successor of the Terex-Schaeff-CMT-Division. Based on these roots we designed the robust and reliable machines. Together with our excellent service, SSM has quickly established itself as one of the leading manufacturers of tunnelling, mining and special machines.

The SSM tunnel excavators are based on the proven Volvo machines, which are converted and upgraded for tough tunnel and mining applications.

The current product range includes tunnel excavators from 8 tons to 46 tons operating weight, which can be optionally equipped with diesel or electric drive.
SSM also has robust tunnel wheel loaders, electric excavators and special machines in its portfolio.

Schöller Special Machines is also a Volvo CE dealer for compact machines and a certified Volvo SAS partner: With its experienced, innovative and highly motivated team, SSM specializes in Volvo-based custom-made products for unusual applications, including documentation and CE certification.

Schöller Special Machines also has a partnership of more than forty years with the Swiss company ITC: The German company develops and produces the tunneling and loading machines from ITC and guarantees worldwide service.

The company's range of services is rounded off by various machine conversions, adjustments, hydraulic attachments and a repair service.
