ITC - SSM TUNNELING AND LOADING MACHINES

Schöller Special Machines has also been working as partners with the Swiss company ITC for more than forty years. SSM designs and manufactures tunneling and loading machines and ensures their global service. The sale of these special machines is exclusively handled by ITC SA in Switzerland and its international dealers.

The current line of ITC series products comprises three machine sizes with an operating weight of 18 thru 55 tons. They are perfectly suited for smaller and medium-sized tunnel cross-sections, efficiently work on soft to medium-hard rock and remove loosened material. The integrated conveyor system directly transports the loosened aggregate material to the back – in a line through the “belly” of the machine – onto the downstream conveyance of excavated material, e.g. dump trucks or conveyor belts.

As standard, the ITC-SSM machines are equipped with two powerful engines – diesel and electric drive: electric drive for emission-free operation on-site as well as diesel drive for travel and operation.

Thanks to the modular design of the base units and the work equipment, the machines can be optimally adapted to varying cross-sections and geologies, and ensure maximum flexibility.

ITC TRACK BED LOADER MACHINES

In cooperation with their Swiss partner company ITC and based on the tunneling machines, Schöller Special Machines has developed a special ballast-loading machine for subsoil repair of rail tracks.

Using the special boom equipment and the centrally integrated conveyor, the aggregated material gets discharged in the centerline of the tracks into the downstream hopper car. While the ITC-SSM ballast-loading machine excavates the old track bed and the foundation, this does not affect the profile of the neighboring track or interfere with the rail traffic there. The crawler chassis allows normal operation on the track bed. Due to the additional rail-mounted carriage, transport within a train is possible.

This machine concept is particularly suited for shorter one-track and multi-track segments, varying track construction methods, and environments. Quick re-railing of the machine in combination with a high loading capacity make for short repositioning times and efficient applicability.
